COIR Premium Potting Soil (Full size brick)
Use the same soil we do, COIR Coco fiber potting soil. Has a Ph of 6.5-7.0, rapid draining with good moisture retention capabilities. We always use this soil to grow succulents, cactus, orchids, ferns, African violets and more.
The soil is sent as a compressed brick, which then needs to be expanded in a large tube (15-20 gallon capacity size) with about 5-7 gallons of water. The brick will absorb the water and expand, which then it should be broken all the way apart with a shovel and make sure that the entire piece has been saturated. From there, we take the soil and transfer it into large potting containers, plugging the drain hole with cheese cloth type of netting to keep the soil contained. The soil is then rinsed in the pots thoroughly 2-3 times until water runs out clear. It is important to rinse the soil within 24 hours of expanding the COIR brick in water. The soil should then be laid out on a bench so it can dry before use, this is to ensure correct soil compaction when planting. For any questions, please contact us at: CosgroveOrchids@gmail.com
